
Pouya completed a Bachelor of Piano Performance and a Bachelor of Music in composition from the University of Toronto. He also privately studied piano performance with Jamie Parker and composition with Ka Nin Chan, Christos Hatzis, Alexander Rapoport, and Brian Current.
Pouya has participated in several music competitions such as the Canadian Music Competition, Kiwanis Music Festival, and Markham Music Festival, winning first place awards and scholarships both in composition and piano performance and achieving first place in composition five years in a row in the Kiwanis Music Festival.
Pouya has considerable experience composing music for video and film. He has employed diverse instrumentations from a 12- piece string orchestra to Persian traditional instruments for his soundtracks in different motion genres such as animation, documentary, fiction, and feature films.
In addition to piano performance and composition, Pouya is interested in music production and sound engineering. He has experience in recording, editing, and mixing of audio and MIDI programming.
Pouya is the co-founder of Ladom Ensemble, a multicultural musical group that performs original compositions inspired by ethnic Persian, Balkan, and other world music sources. He is also leading Sacred Balance, an electro-acoustic music project that blends elements of Eastern and Western art and spirituality.
